Brakes LOCKED up ?
All 4 brakes started dragging today after driving to work 20 miles. I did not notice then that all 4 were sticking just noticed smoke from the right rear. I replaced that caliper guessing that that was the problem, but when i arrived at home after the repair again all ok until last 5 miles - all 4 brakes dragging. No brake warning lights, pedal is full at the top - a little to close to the top from normal conditions. What can i do to diagnose the problem? Power steering is normal and there is sufficient brake & PS fluid.

Try replacing your rubber brake hoses. I've seen it where they swell up inside and won't let the fluid back through. :c:

Hmmm. I have never seen that before... ABS issue maybe. Or maybe a hydroboost/ master cylinder issue?? :humm:

I agree with 1AMATT, I had this happen on a Dodge van when it developed an ABS problem. It was a company truck, so I couldn't tell you exactly what it was.

Any luck on the problem yet?

thanks - after replacing the power booster i have came to the realization that my original problem was caused by adding power steering fluid to the brake system. I am beside myself and cant believe i did this and not catch it right away. I am in the process of replacing the master cylinder and tank but wonder if the oil is in the lines how can i remove it? can i flush any type of cleaning fluid first before bleeding the brake system. I was going to clean the brake resirvoir until i noticed that the entire inside surface is coated with oil like film so i decided to get a new one instead of cleaning this one. Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated as i am very upset i could be so careless.
