engine swap which one
hey guy, im new to this site, Im trying to choose an engine.
I have a k30 4x4 crew cab with a 454 that i used for towing offroad, it was original a diesel. i want to put a diesel in it, I have a chances to get a 6.5L diesel out of 96 chevy truck with 105,000 miles for $1000 or 24v cummins diesel out of a 2001 dodge ram with 98,000 miles for $1400, I have swap 6.5lL and it's easy,I need to know how hard is it to put in my truck, and what i need to do it. I heard that the cummins was better and you can juice up the hp. what should i do thanks |
Id definatly go for the 24V cummins over the 6.5. From what ive read those old 6.5's had some issues and the power output from the 5.9 is alot better

I would also go for the cummins BUT when I was working we had an old chevy that was used as a delivery truck
the body on the truck was beat to hell but the 6.5 in it had well over a million miles on it :choochoo::tttt::c: |
Well i own both, have a 1994 with the 6.5 with 275,000 kilometers/171,000 miles and a 1994 cummins 12v with 620,000 kilometers /385,000 miles. Both run good, had issues with both like injector pumps and OPS/LP on the chevy right now but all in all both are good engines in my opion but i would have to say the cummins is more powerful by a long shot and you can upgrade more that the 6.5. My 2 cents, lol.:c:
