chevy cummins swap
 

i have a 2005 chevy 1500 crewcab short bed. and i want to put a cummins into it. but i havnt heard of anyone doing that before so i just wanna know if it can even happen

There is an article in Decmeber 2010 Diesel World Magazine about putting a 4BT into a 05 1500. Haven't seen anyone put 6 cylinder in one yet.

you tube it i believe there is a black 90s 1500 with a cummins 12 valve in it

You're looking at a long road ahead of you.

I've seen some older GMs with the conversion, for sure. I'm thinking you'll find difficulty around every corner, with money being secondary to these issues:

-weight of the cummins (chevrolet front ends are already terrible, now you're looking at a substantially heavier motor)
-shoehorning that viking longblock in there
-electronics. There are people who have swapped gas motors (new 6.2s into older 6.0 trucks) and there is heavy, heavy work done with the harness, ecm, bcm, etc.
