DIY intake for Duramax?
Just wondering if it's possible to do a home-made intake kit for the duramax like some guys have done on PSD's and older Cummins. What's involved in modding the stock intake, are there any sensors that I should know about that could throw codes?
Ideally I'd just like to run some pipe to an aftermarket filter, shouldn't be too hard, right? :humm: Clearly I haven't tinkered nearly enough... |
Danny should chime in on this one but from what I heard is a modded stock one is better that any aftermarket one.

you could, but the stock dmax intakes will flow fine up to something like 500hp, thats why you don't really see much on it.

Read the whole thread. You only need to cut the front of the intake out, leave the part that sucks in air from the fender alone.

better than alot of them, S&B and banks have been proven to be an upgrade over stock. |
Cool thanks for the info guys!
I think I'll just do the plug mod for more turbo whistle. |
I have the banks intake but then I added the topkick/kodiak intake pipe, it doesn't have the resonator on it and I just cut off the PVC port and melted a piece of plastic overtop to plug it, It has more flow and adds alot of whistle. Also better response.
