NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Troubled U.S. automaker General Motors announced a deal Thursday to sell subsidiary Allison Transmission to private-equity firms The Carlyle Group and Canada-based Onex Corporation for $5.57 billion. |
Wow. I wonder if they will regret that.:duh3:

Wow big changes comming up i guess? Maybe not though. Do you think they will keep the contract for GM to use the allison tranny or they will go to dodge, ford, or toyota or something?

Dang, that is going to put a hurting on the GM trucks I bet. That was a big selling point of those trucks. I guess time will tell.

They will be ok, I'll still buy another one. A lot of people, like myself do not use them to pull.

i'm sure they'll be fine. i really doubt they'd sell it without having some sort of contract in place to retain usage of the allison. they probably couldn't have made the deal demanding exclusive usage but i'd bet they'll be running them for a few more years to come and i wouldn't be surprised if they arranged some sort of pricing agreement where gm gets "the best pricing" compared to what they'd sell to gm's competitors. (i.e. they'll charge gm say $800 per trans but forced into selling the same trans to dodge or ford for more money.) atleast for a little while anyway.
