Head light upgrade?

ANYBODY UPGRADED THE BULBS IN THERE head Lights? I like the looks of some of the vehicles I have seen driving around with the blueish tint. But i wonder if they really help any?

JS2TZU 05-25-2009 01:40 PM

not much, $60 ebay kit. You get special bulbs and ballasts. You basically plug the stock circuit into the ballast and put the bulb in the housing and connect the two. One downside to remember is HIDs take about 10 seconds to warm up fully, so they aren't good if your flipping your highs on and off all the time. The improvement is argued constantly, but I like em. :U:

When you order you can specify the color temperature. I put the coldest temp in my dad's fogs (did the 880 or w/e conversion on the LMM) and they are definately bluish and definately bright. But they are basically pontiac low beam bulbs in the fog housings. :w2:

ah I see that seems easy enough I wonder if anyone has taken pics of this install?

They look like a stocker, but they have more power. High Intensity Reflective I think. There was a thead over on the Place about them a few yrs ago. I guess you can get the equiv. to the low beam at John Deere dealers. I found a guy on Ebay that had highs and lows. You have to trim the Tabs a little to get them into the housings. They are off from the std bulbs.

They look interesting. I just dished out probably too much for the Silverstar premiums for both low & high. Very white light. Took me a while to get used to but now I'll never go back. The box said the lifetime on these bubls were way low compaired to normal halogens. I wonder how long those HIR bulbs would last.

how would you rate the silver star vs the standard bulb?

2500HeavyDuty 06-21-2009 10:05 AM

silverstar is alot brighter then the standard

ajchuck 06-21-2009 06:09 PM

I run HID's in my lows, highs, and my fogs. I love them and they put out a lot of light.

I love them and even if they burn out faster I'll still buy more. Still a lot brighter than the standard with no stupid blue tint. Just very clear white.
