Rear-end lift

Hey guys, is this all I need to lift my rear end 2"?

I'm going to get the Cognito for the front and raise it 3", but I also want to lift the rear 2".

REAR 2" LIFT BLOCKS & U BOLTS_88-08 CHEVY_GMC 1500_2500 - (eBay.ca item 310118839045 end time 26-Feb-09 19:46:49 EST)

Anything I should watch out for while installing this? (drive train angles, for example)
:rocking:

Those pretty much the same thing? Just a set of extended GM u-bolts and a second set of blocks?

Diesel-N-Dust 02-10-2009 05:23 PM

You will not have to worry about pinion angle with a 2" block.

They are the same thing, but it's genuine GM parts, plus it might be cheaper without needing to pay for shipping.

"second set of blocks" ??
You have no blocks right now. The springs sit directly on top of the diff. These block will give you the 2" you want.

Oh ya, and you don't need a "leveling kit" for the front. Your stock torsion bar keys are fully capable enough to lift the front end where you want it. :U:

I thought the 3/4 tons already had a set of blocks under the leaf springs, just like a 1" set or something... I could have sworn they did.. :humm:
It's true I don't NEED a levelling kit, but the Cognito one just looks like it will handle offroad situations much better than the stock configuration....that is unless anyone has a '79 Ford Dana 60 front axle they want to sell me for cheap :w2:

Not that I know of. Maybe a 3500 or 3500HD, but I've never seen them on a 2500HD in stock form.

K50 02-11-2009 11:59 AM

Cool! Thanks for the tips, I'll check it out, might end up saving some $$ this way!

Well, I got a quote from the GM stealership, and this is what I got: (The first two are for '05-'06 classic body style new tow mirrors)

15904034- $505.76
15904035- $505.76
15712451- $58.87
11588342- $50.74

Looks like the ebay deal ends up being $8 more...I can't believe that they charge that much for some frigging U-bolts and blocks of iron...oi... :argh: And the mirrors...$506 each? :edit:!

Rttoys 02-25-2009 01:55 PM

shop those prices. Places like gmpartsdirect are usually cheaper. There's others out there too. :U:

the '06 tow mirrors can be found in some 'for sale' sections of different diesel websites, too.

K50 02-25-2009 04:25 PM

Excellent, I'll shop around.

Those :edit: guys....GM Parts Direct.ca (the Canadian site) will not list any prices until after you give them your credit card number...their catalog lists everything as $0.00 and they will not quote the price until after your order is submitted and confirmed. Is this normal practise?? I'm liking the American site far better as they're straight up about prices and shipping... I might end up buying in the US and picking them up next time I'm down.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

US Parts direct site shipped to me father's address, I save $340.83CDN...:U::U:

JS2TZU 02-25-2009 04:57 PM

i bought my tow mirrors from Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030 for around $360. for the pair.

Well, I got a response from the guys at the Canadian site, they deal directly with the American site, so every purchase reflects the current exchange rate. The Canadian dollar just took a bad turn down, so it looks like I might not be buying for a while :ouch::ouch:. That sucks. That's why no prices are listed. Ah well, I'll get my truck lifted soon enough.

Nor-Cal Nick 03-18-2009 12:10 AM

2" rear blocks and the Cognito leveling kit will have a pretty heavy rake. A 1"-1.5" might be better for the nice rake look. Just have to be careful you don't over do the front and loose the ride quality for the reason you are paying for the Cognito UCA.

K50 03-18-2009 10:37 AM

That's true. I'm going to lift the front first and see how it looks, then I'll decide how much to do the rear end. :c:

Unfortunately the issues with pricing on GMPartsDirect.ca is not to get you to order without knowing the price. We are using an american catalog and unable to set the pricing to Canadian pricing as the difference in price is not a standard markup across all parts and brands. This unfortunately forced us to make a quote system which allows you to submit an order for a quote which we will price and then send back a request for approval or cancellation should you not like the price. Your Credit card is not required and you can select pickup and this can be changed at any point after you approve the order.

We appologize for the inconvienence but we decided that this would be more accurate and a simple 2 step process. This is also outlined on our main page.

If you have any questions you can email sales@gmpartsdirect.ca at any point for a quote, just be sure to include the VIN.

We hope this will clear things up.

Thank-you
Bill MacDonald

Yes, in my previous post I came back on my words there and figured it out. Thanks a lot for the response, I appreciate it!
I'm still hoping that soon I'll be able to get the parts I'm after, and I'll be ordering through you guys for sure. :c:
