Manual Fuel Pump
Hey guys,
My fuel filter started leaking from the drain plug on the bottom, and it eventually completely lost fuel pressure so the truck died... I tightened it back up and pumped the manual pump on top of the filter until the truck started, at which point it ran fine...I'm just wondering, once it runs, is the truck fine? Is the fuel pressure good now? |
if it runs fine i would say yes.
you would notice if there was any air in the lines |
It's fine. No worries. It doesn't take long for all the air to purge and with the pressures that our CP3 runs, the entire system pressureizes quickly.

I noticed my truck was losing its prime, needed to be cranked over just a tad longer before it started to run. I changed the fuel filter and made sure everything is nice and tight, so hopefully it stops. The last couple times before I changed the filter, I'd pop the hood, pump the fuel a couple times till it was firm, and the truck would fire right up beautifully, just like it should. I saw though somewhere else that this is a common issue with D-maxes, so I'm not too worried, but I'll see if I can't stop it from losing its prime.
