cold starts

ok today my neighbor went to start his 02 dmax temp was right around 14 out. It wouldn't start somehow it's losing prime. So my question is will putting in a pusher pump like fass or something like that help for cold morning starts? It has done this for the last 3 years and he is tired of it. He has taken it to dealer and they just change the fuel filter and have no clue. There hasn't been any fuel in the oil. So what have people been doing to help this? Thanks in advance. I was thinkin a fass or similar.

Umm, could be gelled fuel causing the issue.

A fass or airdog does heat up the fuel, but if its getting that cold might want to do add something to the fuel and see if that helps first.

there are alot of heating elements to make sure the truck starts, it has a intake heater, glow plugs and you can plug it in

It's funny I have no issue with my cummins starting and I am in the same temp area my dads cummins starts too. I helped him start it today and had to pump it by the fuel filter and that took a while. But it finally went. If it was gelled fuel wouldn't it be hard to hand pump?

once the truck fires it runs fine. No issues at all. It's weird I mean his 3 case backhoes fire up fine in this as we been plowing the snow with them. The engine compartments on the tractors is not insulated for crap compared to the truck. Thats why I was thinking it might help to have a pusher pump on the thing... I also have heard that the addition of a pusher helps increase the performance as the cp3 doesn't have to work as hard.. He has been interested in putting on the fass and having the added filtration. So I just wanted to know if anyone else was having this problem. I would think being in ca that someone that lives out in the real cold might have some advice. He was going to plug it in tonight I think and try that.

About a month back we had a stretch here where it was around zero at night and i had mine plugged in and it would start right up no problem. Thats odd that he is having so many problems
