Racin' at the Track

So if i wanted to race my budies 06 mustang GT with an intake and exhaust in my soon to own 01 duramax with a PPE boost increase valve and PPE programmer would it be a bad idea to turn the power all the way up for the one race or is there a good chance i'll :edit: up my tranny?
Cuz i promised that i would run with him and i definately can't let him win. but i dont wanna get my truck :edit: it up racing and then it be sittin in my driveway....:ouch:

be easy on the 4-5 shift or u will have a problem.itl shift around 70ish mph at 3200-3250rpms. and give the trans a little while to learn how to handle the power, and leave defuel on

do you have sleeves? 4wd launch would be you best chance with the stock trans.

if does limp it just locks in 4th gear, reset it and itl be fine, but it wont hold the amount of power it used to.

Yeah i have no idea what sleeves are... lol
and what is defuel? i still have much to learn about this kinda stuff.

sleeves keep this from happeneing...

They slide over the tie rods and keep them from folding in on each other when u put them under alot of stress, like on a 4wd boosted launch or sled pulling.

de-fuel just doesn't ass fueling inbewteen the shifts and its easier on the trans.

but his truck was badly prepped for the pull too

Big_Johnson 10-04-2008 12:35 AM

ohhhhh. so how much are they and where do i get them. cuz i definately don't want that to happen to my truck.

you can request a price quote in the price quote forum asking for some tie rod sleeves there about 100-115 dollars and take about 30 minutes per side at most with hand tools to install.

another thing if you want to be track ready is to lower the front end a little so the cv angles are flat or a little lower than flat, so you can get a good launch

Dano pretty much covered it. I would say dont launch at full spool unless you wanna see :edit: explode. You'll prolly beat him so good luck :U:
