Smoke Switch For The Idiots

Alright I can't take it anymore with these idiots around here i live. I want one and will promise to only use it for the ones that really deserve it. :argh:

Is there a way to SAFELY make up a smoke switch on the D'Max?

I don't want to set codes if I use it and I don't want to hurt anything either.

:pca1:

I have been thinking about this alot lately actually. And the only way I can think of that would be a "smoke switch" is to put a cable operated valve, or electronic valve on the IC tube, where its tapped for the boost gauge. Then, at will, you could flip the switch to open the valve, or pull the cable to open it, and you would lose boost, therefore creating LOTS OF SMOKE..

Just a thought.

Oilfield_Mafia 09-26-2008 02:02 PM

but wait.. I see a certain DMAX KNowledgebase is also viewing this thread.. :humm:

C'mon Rick.. hopefully you can shed some light on how we can do this?

2500HeavyDuty 09-26-2008 05:10 PM

dsp switch :D

or electronic BOV

RickDLance 09-26-2008 06:16 PM

I like killing the boost for the shear smoke of it all, but you loose power when doing this too. You can also set some under boost codes IIRC. It would need to be metered and fine tuned for the best results.

A dsp 2 or 5 switch gets the job done for sure. Thats what I use. :U:

Tuners can set up a "smoke" tune and still have just the right amount of power.

BTW, we need a smoke smilie! I'll see if I can find one.

2500HeavyDuty 09-26-2008 07:03 PM

i need to rig my dsp5, but im too lazy to mount the dern switch and write a tune for it, but a smoke tune would be nice to have to mess with peoople

mikmaze 09-26-2008 07:16 PM

when I had my smoke switch installed my fav 2 uses were on kids taggin up bust stops, and floks too lazy to walk into blockbuster/ parked in the fire zone. now I got a smarty and don't need a switch :D

dsp2 and dsp5 is great, unless you have an LBZ/LMM... hmm..

What can I adjust on my PPE to create more smoke?:humm:

RickDLance 09-27-2008 09:24 AM

I'll bet you could rig some sort of a "lier"" switch on the boost pressure sensor. A switch that would alter the signal sent to the ecm, fooling it into thinking it was making more boost then it was.

Kind of a boost stick in reverse.

I have the same magnaflow too and love it, you can usually get a used one on ebay or cragislist. I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Magnaflow 16742. Also some of the forum sponsors usually have a sale going on. Either way its a great exhaust system, sounds great, and very easy to install.

Now you can :jump:

DuramaxDiesel02 11-06-2009 12:48 PM

Wait iv heard of idiots that remove the wastegate line so that no PSi is built up therefor the spooling and making alot of smoke.
Does that work?

2500HeavyDuty 11-06-2009 01:03 PM

ive had mine pop out, but the way i tuned it truck it wont over fuel if there isnt any air so it didnt go very fast

DuramaxDiesel02 11-06-2009 01:21 PM

So basically there only loosing boost but not gaining any more air restriction?

2500HeavyDuty 11-06-2009 01:24 PM

what the smoke switch does is fool the map and maf sensor to think its getting alot of air when its not, so then it adds the correct ammount of fuel for the ammont of air its geting, but in reality its not its dumping tons of fuel when there is no air.

redneck_ 12-22-2009 01:12 PM

i wont to put a smoke switch on my 2004 lb7 dsuramax diesel but will it hurt any thing

02LB7DURAMAX 08-09-2010 03:28 PM

do you have to tap into the map and maf sensors to get smoke on an 02 lb7 because i used the pic on the other page and didn't get any smoke with the switch.

dirtydirtymax 08-14-2010 07:27 PM

can you build a switch for an LB7? I was told you can not.
Thanks

This guy clams to have a working smoke switch. i emailed him to see if he can give me a step by step of how he did it. i think his set up only works on LLY's and up but im sure if you get the directions on how to do it then some one on here with alittle electrical no how than me could figure it out:argh:

I'm sure you can. you would just need some way to control how much air enters the engine. i know with the LLY's and up they have a varible geometry turbo (VGT) vs the lb7 which doesnt have a VGT. so my guess is if you could get a motor oporated valve or something that you could put in the out flow intercooler line, (it would need a relief valve on it) but i could see it working that way. it would need to be caliberated so that if you want 50% boost then the valve would only close 50% or what ever %age you would like. i see it being time consuming but when your done it would give you alot of control over your airflow and smoke out put, I AM GOING TO MAKE ONE THING CLEAR, SMOKE IS FUN BUT DON'T BE ANNOYING. LIL PUFFS HERE AND THERE ARE FUNNY AND ITS A GOOD REVENGE TACTIC, BUT DONT BE BLOWING OVER LIL OLD LADIES WITH YOUR BIG DIESEL FARTS.:choochoo:

kmcm2fst 04-24-2012 09:47 PM

alright yall dont beat on me but i have edge and i wanna know how to make it smoke more. any ideas?

BriteWhiteRam 04-24-2012 10:18 PM

Flow less air and more fuel, thats how to make smoke... although making power with some smoke is far more fun:rocking:

kmcm2fst 04-24-2012 10:25 PM

i have the k&n cool air intake and filter, and air dog II. i wonder if there is a way to adjust it in the edge program?:humm:

BriteWhiteRam 04-25-2012 10:01 PM

smoke is a waste man, there are a lot of guys who will slam you for wanting it

Personally I like my tunes from Duramaxtuner.com, the DSP5 is awesome and knowing that i can go from stock power levels(300rwhp) to mustang stomping power(415rwhp), they have little to no smoke, the 415rwhp tune only smokes when i stomp it hard, otherwise if just goes!:rocking:

Since when lol. Did u race a kid in high school with a edge on his vp cummins like most??:rocking:

PSD-BLACK-CLOUD 10-15-2012 09:08 PM

If your turbo is vgt you can just run a toggel switch to it and turn it off............thats how they do 6.0's i figure it would work on a dmax too. But your egts will still get hot as hell so why would you want one?

cbunker 08-14-2013 12:17 PM

Can a guy still get one of these?
