Shocks For The Duramax

No big surprise but my shocks are getting a little weak. Where should I turn? Bilstein, Monroe, Edelbrock IAS?

DangerousDuramax 09-17-2008 12:47 PM

Bilstein or Rancho. I've used both and would recommend either. They will cure the body roll in corners. I currently have the Rancho RS9000X's with in-cab controller and love it. Will keep putting them on my trucks.

Bilstein 5100's. To bad your truck is not lifted I have 4 Rancho adjustable with about 2,000 miles just sitting in my shop.

Johnny Cetane 09-18-2008 09:57 AM

Well if I can convince the wife that I need to lift the truck so I can by new shocks I'll let ya know.

TCU Fan 09-18-2008 10:09 AM

Yeah lift it, I also have shock hoops for the front sitting around.

Oilfield_Mafia 09-18-2008 10:15 AM

How much lift would it require to use the shock hoops and shocks?:w2:

TCU Fan 09-18-2008 01:04 PM

I had a 6" lift on my 05 which is what I took them off of. It is a fabtech 8" hoop.

I 2nd the Bilstien shocks.....

bigdaddydiesel 09-18-2008 01:22 PM

I agree, the Ranchos are great shocks, but I have heard good things about the Bilsteins too..:U:

DangerousDuramax 09-18-2008 01:54 PM

They're both pretty identical in performance and the way they ride. Cant go wrong with either one. :up2:
