2015 Duramax Crew 4x4. I decided I was at a point in my life where I didn't care about the warranty anymore and just wanted to do some performance upgrades. I got the following estimate from a reputable shop and unfortunately I just don't know enough to be able to say whether this is a good price or not a good price. I'm currently running 295/70/18 from stock 265/70/18.

I'm going to go up one more size to 305/70/18 Nitto G2 terra grappler. But not Necessarily sold on those tires it's just shops recommended tire.

Anyone who could look at the estimate and tell me what they think would be well appreciated. I guess one of my biggest reasons I'm asking for others opinions is because of the gears! That's really my one and only red flag that maybe something is amiss.

I assumed with those big tires we would have to do a gear swap. He told me that with the newer trucks there just no need to do that and with the work performed in the estimate, I would be able to smoke the back two tires. I don't doubt that but I'm just worried that putting all that stress and the "smoking" on the original 3.73 can't be a good things?

He said he has done tons of trucks and not ever encountered one problem with the bigger tires causing any issues and I'm fine just long as I don't go up to like 37's, and up to 35's in fine.

Maybe I am old-school and behind the times as I'm pushing 60 but in my day, the 70s and 80s, you never dreamed of putting on bigger tires unless it came with lower ratio gear swap.

Plus I've learned. It's one thing to have somebody tell you it won't hurt, but it's another thing to find out in reality it will!

I decided to skip on the Arb lockers being told it's not worth it overall, all things taken into consideration, the big picture, it's probably not necessary for a DD.

Here is the estimate and I am open to all replies http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/im...lies/smile.gif !requested him to of course to get a lot better performance out of my engine as well as going a little bigger on the tires without losing take off performance as when I went to the 295 I did notice some added stress and taking off was noticeable.

Guess i'm just worried that the extra horse power will do things to the transmission, the axles, engine and want make sure I'm ok. The estimate is below for $9,000

I forgot to add that anoher reason he recommends not changing the gearing is that he said what comes from the factory is going to be much more dependable and you don't want to start messing around with redoing the axles as it won't be as dependable!
