Oil Plug

why is it so hard to get off???
Ive tried with all my muscle and it wont even budge.......this is not normal , ive never had a problem with any other truck....:argh:

DangerousDuramax 04-24-2008 01:50 PM

Because someone put in on too tight. Make sure that the engine has been running at normal operating temp and try it. When you put it back on it just needs to be snug not tight.

dmaxjenn 04-24-2008 01:53 PM

If i warm it up itll come off easier? Ill go try that.
ok. gawd I was feeling pretty usless.
Then the oil would be hot wouldnt it?

DangerousDuramax 04-24-2008 01:59 PM

LOL...YES, the oil will be VERY hot, but you will stand a better chance at getting the plug loose.

DangerousDuramax 04-24-2008 02:27 PM

You should be running the 052 filter. BTW- I wouldnt put a FRAM filter on my lawnmower. :ha:

dmaxjenn 04-24-2008 02:30 PM

but what brand its the o52, we have a lordco and triton here. maybe i can get something there.......should nt the new one look a bit more like the old one. the other one is blue and longer.. Is it the width that matters and not so much the length.......I know its not the color..lol

DangerousDuramax 04-24-2008 02:38 PM

052 is the standard for a DMAX. You should be able to find it in most brands or at least cross reference it.

dmaxjenn 04-24-2008 03:42 PM

Ill go take a look. thanks again , got the job half done.

You can get a fumato(spelling?) valve and not have to worry about ever un screwing the bolt again.
