looking at a 6.6

so im looking into getting a new truck (have had a 6.0, and 7.3l stroker) and wanted to see what yall have to say about the 6.6. the truck would be a DD/medium weight tow rig. it would remain bone stock until warranty was gone. so here are my questions

any motor/trans issues
what kinda mpg can i expect stock (4x4 cclb dually)
what kinda mpg can i expect if/when i tune the truck and do deletes

right now it is between the 6.6 and the 6.7 cummins just not sure what to do so trying to get reviews on both and get a good comparison.

the LMM is awesome once the deletes are done, if you leave everything bone stock or very nearly stock(say deletes and a small tow tune) it should be pretty much dead reliable

2x

LMM is a great engine. stay away from the LML if you plan on upgrades or deletes

truck would be bought new so it would have the LML. like i said deletes wouldnt be done till the warranty is gone so 100k (i drive 30-40k/yr so it would take around 3.5years)

I have a friend who said they keep busting urea tanks.

Beware that there is very little tuning options for the LML right now. This may change in a few years but smog testing wont. The LML is supposedly the best running of the duramaxs even with all of the emissions junk, it is already pushing 400 HP. You may not feel the need to tune it once you start driving one.

Wish i had the money to get one :choochoo:

agreed, the LML is a beast with that CP4.2! oh the fueling possibilities! too bad the ECM is locked down so hard

considering its location (outside of the right side frame rail under the cab) im not surprised. if you go look at them you will ask yourself WTF where they thinking putting that there.

after going and looking yesterday im leaning more towards dodge but still need to go drive them (that will be todays chore). no urea is nice plus dont want the added cost of having to fill it all the time. proven engine with tons of options for later. interior has gotten much nicer over the past 5 years.

Dad got a new dodge awhile back. It was way cheaper than the ford or chevy. And it pulls a cattle trailer like no other.(I still think mine is better) But his decideing factor was he didnt want to mess with urea.

Dodge wont have urea till 2014.
