Truck still in shop
i have owned my truck for 6 weeks and it has been in the shop for 4 of those weeks (1 week my shop, 1week dealer were i bought truck, 2 weeks chevy dealer) first problem was one control arm on the 3link broke i fixed that no problem, now there is a short in the electrical system that has yet to be found. the chevy dealer has had it 2weeks and still hasnt touched it. i wish there was a diesel place here in Corpus that was realy good and could just fix it. i have no problems fixing mechanical issues but i have no patiance for anything electrical.

finaly got my truck in a bay yesterday afternoon. i hope they can find the problem. i dont have much faith
whats the word? Your truck is sick by the way.
Is that a hack shack sticker on the back window? |
ya those pictures are from before i owned the truck. the truck is STILL in the shop, it is something to do with the starter relay. (nobody can find it)

I've been noticing the BIG 3 have been having issues with their dpf trucks:humm:
ECM is bad... got a new one ordered. going to order EFI as soon as Rob comes back from vacation.
Trade it in
The big three dose seem to be having trouble with the DPF era trucks, the scary thing is that many of the problems have nothing to do with the DPFs.Just the fact that even today there selling brand new rigs that still can be prone to death wobble makes you wonder what GM,Ford and Dodge are concerned with.Like being the first to 500 hp 1000 tq?

So did you get the new ECM and did it solve the problem? What's the latest?

I'm sorry to hear of your continuing problems.

I have to pop in on your thread again...Correct me if I'm wrong but this truck was being heavly modified befor you bought it. just seems like the worng shit was done , and then dumped..ummmmm.. like i said that electrial shit is touchy with the wrong parts, from the after market...70 DAYS THO... wow maybe a new shop is in order
is it in the dealership or at a shop? I'd say it'd almost be worth taking it to a different dealership or something, these trucks are not that complex, there's only so many things that can be wrong

Hope ya get it figured out, maybe it won't be to bad and you'll be rolling..

just a fallow up. now they are wanting to change out the BCM so another $520 bringing the total to $2331.80.. (i could do so many mods with that money) and still no gaurantee that it will run. this is the last time my truck will ever visit a dealership. they dont know so they just throw parts at it until hopefuly something works.
I just HATE going to the stealer, be it a factory dealer or an independent.
They've already racked up $1800+ and you're truck DOESN'T EVEN RUN! That tells me they don't have a clue about what they're doing. And they want you to spend $500+ more, and it probably will be $1000 more before they're done, IF this is the fix they're looking for. If not, who knows where it will end. I can't believe that this isn't against some law. They're fixing stuff that isn't broken AND THEY KNOW IT. They put in the new fuse box and that didn't work; they proved that wasn't the problem. I recently had my Altima in the shop (private) and told them that I had an injector that wasn't working and wanted it replaced. They changed the distributor cap, the rotor, the spark wires, the spark plugs, the fuel filter, the gas cap and a few other things. When I arrived to pick it up, they presented me the bill and told me that I would have to take it to NISSAN to get the injector fixed! Well, I didn't pay the bill at that garage; didn't go to NISSAN; and I put the injector myself and the cost was $58 and took me about an hour. Your garage isn't doing much better, I'm sorry to say. I feel your pain. |
just a quick update. truck SHOULD be done today. i have my hopes up. its only costing me $2300 for a $520 fix. i will update as soon as i know something
anything? truck is just to cool looking not to work:rocking:
still not running. i spent 2 hours yesterday breathing down the techs back. he pulled off another truck to finaly get back to work on mine. BCM is in and everything on the tech2 says it is working but still not getting relay to work. hopefully monday. i feel like he needs to hang up with the gm tech line and start tracing wires. there are only about 3 wires in question. i dont think it could be that hard
you sure wouldn't think so, but then again some people have a hard time thinking if ya know what i mean
that effing blows:argh:
got the truck back after 88 days of being down. ended up being the BCM. already got my EFI dsp5 installed. now im working toward 4" exhaust and single stack. i think i have a place to do it local. hopefully they can do it next saturday.
