The old z-71shocks were made by Tenneco automotive Who owns Rancho, Monroe, Dynomax, etc. etc.

My opinion

I can say I have had many Actuall Rancho shocks and have been very pleased. However, the Ranchos on Fords are not Ranchos. They have Rancho stickers but they say Motorcraft on the tube. So just to maybe help you out the Ranchos on a Chevy might not be Ranchos too.

The LTZ is a trim pakage, Z71 is suspension and skid plates.

Yeah

And usually the fake Ranchos come with the suspension package.

jeepssuck 09-02-2007 07:04 PM

all z71s are not even 4x4 anymore

I don't know if this helps, but sometime around 2000-01, GM stopped using bilsteins on their Z-71's (remember the red shocks on the GMT-800 Z-71 trucks??). After that time, they went to a slightly stiffer valved Tenneco, which is the crappy stuff they have sold on all thier trucks for a while now. I know Tenneco makes Rancho, but I think its a stretch to call these shocks Rancho's. They are more like low-grade Monroe's.

The Z-71 package in 2008 consists of larger shocks, skid plates and an easy peal off sticker on the rear quarter.

Is there a part number to look for to see if it is a Rancho or not. I want to sell them but I do not want to sell them as Rancho's if they are the standard POS shocks.

The shocks are made by Tenneco Automoive. Same manufacturer as monroe. They also make Dynomax mufflers. Google Tenneco Automotive.:U:

OOPS, I just realized this is a old post I already answered too. DOH!
