after towing fuel filter goes to 0%
 

Hi.
After i get home from towing my camper. The next morning my fuel filter went from 94% to 0 and said change filter. Shop over the phone said it must be injectors. Have a hard time be living this. It has happen twice. The filter was about 1 month old. Dident go into limp mode. And dident happen while towing. Was the next morning both times. Reset the counter. Stayed fine. Any thoughts?

I would look to see if you have any fuel line restrictions such as a kinked line, collapsed line, etc. Also look into the pressure relief valve to see if it may be leaking. Basically anything that may lower the fuel pressure. Even a small air leak may do it.

From my understanding the ECM doesn't just look at the miles driven but also factors in the fuel pressure during various conditions and it constantly sees the actual pressure lagging behind the desired pressure then it starts to drop the remaining life faster.

Thanks. I read everything i could and found nothing that said bad injectors. Hard for me to be live that a shop can be sure its injectors an tell me 5 k to fix with out seeing the truck

Does this truck have any tuning? Also does this truck have a lift pump?

Tuneing yes, modzilla, lift pump no. Running small tune

Seems the truck is running low on rail pressure drying the fuel filter out that is why your getting that code to pop up.

I agree but why or how worried should i be. It hasent done it in over a month and it only happens after he tow a heavy load

yea, typically it will do it under a load. I can't say what the truck is doing if it is dropping rail pressure while driving empty but i would recommend a Lift pump to ensure you are good to go.

Have you checked your black rubber fuel lines coming out of the filter and running to the CP3 yet? Enteraly collapsed lines, kinked lines, etc will lower the fuel pressure and the ECM will treat it as a clogged filter. Air leaks will do the same thing. As mentioned above, verify these are in good working order
