08 chevy with efi live winter problems.

Hey guys I'm stumped with a gelling issue. I've tried bottles and bottles of additive. The only thing that what screw me Is putting straight number 1 in. Im here in Nebraska and anytime it gets down to zero I can't go anywhere. But the weird thing is that my dads 07.5 just drove away this morning with no additive or anything and filled up at the sand exact pump. Is the efi live screwing with it? Or Is there something on the truck I should be checking. Any help would help thank you

fuel filter heater. check the currant draw of the wire going into the top of the filter housing

glow plugs

air intake heater

these are the things i would check first. i dont believe a filter heater problem will cause any check engine light but the latter too will

fuel filter heater? WHA?? not to my knowledge.... I live in Canada, and 99% of the time only straight #1 goes in my tank, no additives, no fuel filter heater, and I've never had an issue with gelling, sounds like a fuel problem to me

Anti-gel wont do much to fuel that is already gelled, the fuel has to be fluid so it can mix together, sort of like pouring anti-freeze ontop of ice, it wont melt the ice, you have to have liquid water before you add the anti-freeze to prevent the freezing:hellox:

Duramax fuel filter heater is located in the filter housing head. it is powered buy a 15 amp fuse in the fuse box when the ignition is on. there is a snap switch in the filter head that will close when the temps drop below 59.8°F. the power wire connects to the top of the housing of the filter
