Fuel System Problem

Ok guys, I Have a stock 2008/9 kodiak 4500, w Allison 1000 tranny. I have been having problems keeping the fuel filter primed while warming up the engine, particularly since the weather turned cooler.
I replaced the in tank fuel pump assy, and still have to prime the the filter sometimes 6-10 times before it will stay running. I am told by a friend that drives tractors that this could be due to older fuel hose shrinking allowing air into the fuel line. could it be as simple as replacing the fuel line.

Also since changing the fuel filter the check engine light, and a filter light on console stay on all the time.

try replacing the fuel filter, or checking to see if the o-ring is properly seated, I know that many guys have had a problem with that, those filters can be a pain in the butt to get on properly, as well the water in fuel sensor on the bottom of the filter can cause issues as well, you may want to see if that o-ring is seated properly as well, the plastic threads may also be stripped or damaged, just check it out and make sure that everything is good on it, and one more thing, the plastic bleed screw on top of the filter head is known to crack and cause air leaks, you can buy a new one from Merchant Automotive
