New owner of a 2010 LMM
1 Attachment(s)
So id like to say hello and ect to the duramax side of the site. I just purchased a 2010 GMC 2500 fully loaded dmax. I fell weird because i just sold my 800hp cummins and my diesel car and bought a dmax. Safe to say i love the power and speed, and it feels so weird driving an automatic. But i really do like it. its stock ( exhaust is straight pipe, and i have the PPE+2 race programmer) but my real question is... does anyone else have a problem finding the sticker that says "duramax" that youd put on your back glass window? i was looking for a reflective one to go across my back window... but i couldnt find even the plane jane white ones online... maybe im searching wrong but if anyone could help?

Wow, nice rig man!
Yea it's a huge change going from cummins to duramax. I got rid of my 06 cummins and got a 2008 duramax crew cab 4 days ago. I liking the duramax a lot so far even totally stock. And can't wait to start ordering parts for it
EBay or amazon? And welcome to the duramax side:-)

Scared to roast the transmission if I live tune it
I have had efi live for two years now, my tuner made my highest tune the Max HP that the stock tranny will handle without damaging it. Also 5th and 6th gear are the weak links. Always downshift to 4th if you want to play hard. I can slip mine if I get on it hard and forget to downshift.. I would say its around 130-150 hp tune. I can beat my buddy's rcsb 2005 duramax. He has air intake, exhaust, egr delete and ppe programmer. My truck is ccsb a lot heavier and just exhaust n tune
Ok yea 120-150 would be perfect for me. It just scared me because my buddy wrecked his in a month after the live tune. But he drove it super hard a lot. Which I don't plan on doing all the time
I would look into getting a "trans-go" jr shift kit. For 100$ it will help
Thanks a lot for your help. I looked it up and it seems like a nice and inexpensive way to make my transmission last a lot longer
No problem!
I just put a 100hp chip on my truck and it's noticeably quicker but the shifts seem like they take a while. Like they aren't quick strong shifts. Is that just how the 6 speed Allisons are suppose to shift or is there something wrong?
What tuner?

Diablo sport predator
Did you relearn the transmission?
It was for a 06-07 gm. But I updated it to the LMM.
Hmm... I don't know. My ally shifts fast. Id get efi live
Shit....... That doesn't sound good
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- How many miles on your ally? |
173k
If had efi live for about 22k miles |
Ok mine has 100k miles. So you think it's my chips fault that its shifting like that? Or should I try the transgo shift kit?
Yea I'd say its the programmer. I have tried ppe programmer and mine worked fine before efi live. Do you know when the spin on filter was changed last
When I bought it a week ago the dealer said they had changed all the filters but you never know I guess. Thanks a lot for your help. I'll see if I can try someone else's programmer for a bit.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- What's a spin? |
Just look under the truck. If the filter looks really clean then id say they did change it.. i wondet if there is a fuse for the transmission that you could pull out and un hook batteries to reset the trans learning. Like i said maybe its just adapted to your old driving and power?
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Spin on transmission filter. Looks like a oil filter. |
Ok yea that actually makes sense. Thanks ill check it out soon
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- It's shifting a lot better now already. |
What did u do?
I tried to update it but it didn't let me update it. So I put it back on my truck and now it seems to have gotten so much better
Good!!!!!
the allison is an adaptive transmission, if you take power levels from stock to 450hp the transmission is not used to that much torque, you need to reset the TAPS to help the transmission quickly re-learn how to deal with the added power, that or you can drive easy for a while until it learns on its own
Im not sure if the Diablosport can reset the TAPs, so it may take a while for the trans to adapt:tu: |
No I can't reset taps with the diablosport. So your saying I should have it on the highest level for a while and just take it easy so it can learn it? How long do you think it would take?
Put it on whatever level you are planning to use on a regular basis, then you can let it learn slowly, just drive "normally" for a few weeks before you really beat on it, you can do a few hard accelerations in both normal mode and tow/haul and that might help it to adapt quicker
the standard procedure after you re-set the taps into "quick learn" mode is to do several 0-60 accelerations doing it at 1/4 throttle, 1/2, 3/4 and full throttle, and repeat the steps in tow/haul You could try that without the re-set, it might help :tu: |
Ok right on. Thanks for your help. I just ordered a transgo shift kit too so hopefully it's better soon

As for a diesel shop there... I really don't know, you can just let the trans slowly adjust on its own:c: |
Haha ok I didn't know if you were one of those Americans that thinks canada is a state in the USA somewhere
