running hot

Hi im new to this form but i hope i can get a little info i was towin a two place sled trailer this weekend empty from the farm and it was about -5celcius outside and i was running hot my egts were high and my motor temp was up by 100 0n my gauge never done this before... I havent changed my air filter in a while would this be a major cause ????

what mods have you done to the truck??

chezandy 04-03-2011 02:54 PM

brute force air filter edge attitude on lowest setting

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

what should i have my alarm set to on my attitude for my egts

1300 max, you can go higher but only for a few seconds, 1100 is a safe sustained temp, but i would keep it below 1000 to make sure the engine lives a long happy life

where in Alberta are you located? your engine temp shouldn't be running that high, have you changed the exhaust yet? I would look into doing that, a nice mandrel bent 4" free flowing system should help, the AEM intake wont do crap considering the stock filter and unit will flow just as well, and provide cleaner air for a lot longer.... 100,000kms depending on how dusty the roads are you drive on, unless the filterminder is pulled down I wouldnt worry about changing it

Free up the exhaust and see if that helps, it should make a difference

im from fort saskatchewan and i havent done my exhaust yet can you recommend one ive been looking to do that but ive been busy with work out of town all the time

MBRP or Magnaflow there should be plenty of places in edmonton to pick up an exhaust:c:

actually 1350 is the max sustained temp. anything higher you shouldn't running it for long amount of time.

an exhaust will help you out though :tu:

I was just suggesting a very safe number to keep the EGT's at, 1350 is ok... but i personally wouldn't run it that hot for too long, LBZ have a history of cracking pistons...:argh:
