Problems with lbz?

Hey guys. I'm looking to get a Duramax lbz and would probably be getting it with about 170-180k miles because that's what my budget will allow. Was just wondering what problems might be known to occur with the lbz around this amount of miles? Anything major that I should look out for? Any input is appreciated.

oil consumption is my only complaint. GM deems it 'normal'. :td:

My 06 was my hotshot truck from 100k-200k and my farm truck until 300k.

Never used a drop of oil and ran mobile 1 5/40 at 10k intervals.

Biggest issue was low rail psi by 150k, cured with fass pump and a shim kit.

The torque converter slipped in 2nd if I took off up a hill grossing over 30k. Changed the spin on filter every oil change and drained the trans pan, diffs, and tcase every 25k. Refilled with amsoil. Changed the main trans filter at 200k.

Get a trans cooler line kit and bigger trans cooler if you are going to be towing. Also don't tow in 6th and if towing at 60mph just drop to 4th, they tow great that way.

Egr delete and efi live with a modified stock tune, mostly trans shift points, down shift, and turbo brake were my main tune mods.

trans cooler lines are a big one that I can remember, Mine leaked all over the place

the stock trans is great as long as you don't tune it too much, it should last quite well

and as was said, proper fluid and filter changes can make them last well and be very reliable

the LBZ is the keeper of the bunch, ask me how I know:c:
