07 lbz bad fuel filter housing??

Hopefully one of you can help me out, the other day i started up my 07 lbz and shut the door and walked away(no hesitation, was running smooth like normal), maybe 30 seconds later it died out and wouldnt start back up(only sat for 2 days), my fuel filter needed to be replaced pretty soon here so i went and bought a new one and put it in, i cant seem to get fuel to come out the screw on top when priming it, if i push it somewhat fast all it will do is squirt out a little bit of fluid and some foam, does this sound like a clogged fuel filter housing? Any help would be great, thanks guys, i am pretty mechanically inclined but this is my first diesel.

sounds like the check valve in filter housing has something under it . don't know if can betaken apart & cleaned or not.

If you remove the filter and look a the underside of the housing you can see a little check ball in the center. Make sure that it doesn't have anything stuck in it and the spring in holding it shut.

Is there a chance you didn't prim it enough? Sometimes it takes a lot of priming to get all of the air out. Also if the filter wasn't screwed on all the way then it could have been sucking air while you where priming it

sorry its taken so long to reply been pretty busy, went and put a new fuel filter housing on today and still wasnt able to prime fuel to filter, decided to pressurize my fuel tank with my shopvac (covered by a rag), also i took the inlet line off the filter, got fuel to come out of the line but fuel also started coming out by the line on top of the fuel tank?? im guessing this isnt normal and that the metal line could be cracked or loose??, any suggestions at getting at it or will i have to drop the tank? sorry im kinda new to diesels and thanks for all the help

you description does sound like there is a leak on the fuel supply line to the filter that is letting in air. unless the steel lines are rusty or show some other damage i would suspect the rubber lines to be at fault first. check the lines around the FICM too as the fuel goes through this first before it makes it to the filter. double check that the banjo bolts aren't loose, etc.

got a little better look at it today, i noticed one of my lines was fraying pretty badly and thats right by where i see the fuel coming from but i cant tell for sure(right at the front of the tank on passenger side), i also noticed that it looks as if there is a breather next to the fuel lines?? could that be where the fuel is coming from??

**truck has been an arizona truck until this last november so no rust

Sorry if it's a bad pic

I was told that the pressure could also be forcing fuel out of the draw tube

Everything is so packed I can't see exactly where it's coming from with the tank strapped in
