What's the best programmer

I've been looking at alot of programmers for my truck but not sure what to get. I want to increase the horsepower and mpg without hurting anything. Anyone got any ideas

EFI Live or PPE

Efi live is one of the best out there. It's what I run and I swear by it.

A lot of guys are going to tell you EFI live, and I'm one of them, its not the cheapest, or easiest solution, but you can get one heck of a good running truck with it, there are plenty of guys out there who will sell you tuning as well, which can be helpful if you need a place to learn from and start, besides most of them are pretty well set-up to begin with:rocking:

the ppe tuner is a good tuner too. :tu:

+1 on the PPE...I have it on mine. The only thing that I don't like about it is everytime you want to put it to another tune (1,2,3 or 4) or back to stock, you can't do it on the fly...unless someone knows something I don't know!!

since I am about to buy an 07 classic LBZ myself what mileage gains can be expected from a 4" exhaust and MPG tuning? I don't consider this jumping Breezy's thread because he probably wants to know. thanx Crossy

It truly depends on how far you drive it each day...I drive about 15 miles per day and I barely reel in 14mpg...I have a completely stock LBZ that came with a PPE Programmer but I'd like to sell it and advance to EFI-Live soon. If you travel more than 50 miles per day, you could expect to see roughly 15-19mpg...

well I bought the LOW MILEAGE , 2007 classic / LBZ, that I mentioned above, and mine (100% stock) must have the worst factory tune on the planet- I drive like a grandpa and get LESS than 14 MPG in low MPH, NON- stop & go driving. I'm REAL READY for an MPG tuner.

I bought mine last December with 68k miles...it's average mpg was around 14mpg (gallons fuel used and odometer). I've done the PCV reroute with Merchant Auto valve cover couplers/nipples, I'm throwing on a Nictane CAT fuel filter adapter this weekend, and just this week I swapped all fluids to Synthetic, though I know the miles I put on my rig each day certainly doesn't warrant the need for syn. Nonetheless, I am wanting upwards to 20mpg on highway at least and my colleague's exact truck in a different color gets 18mpg all day long in town...but he's rocking a 4" straight-piped exhaust and EFI-Live so I'm hoping to do a similar deal to attain better efficiency for my truck...I may have misspoke slightly on my average...My average since I've taken possession is actually 13.5mpg and depending on the type of fuel used, barely crests 11.5mpg (type 2). drive it at 35mph or 50mph for maximum fuel mileage...keep it under 2000 RPM and hope for the best...be sure to swap your air filter if it's dirty, did that last week and everything just feels better on the truck now...
