lbz vs 5.9 cummins

ok i need help on deciding Between these two trucks. no gm or dodge sucks stories. which truck is better basically, the lbz duramax or a 06 5.9. i dont have a lot for mods so i need a truck that i wont to do much to it. i want a truck that will get good highway milage (empty) yet will rip off the line when i want to show off. HELP!!!!!:s:

Really no truck is gonna rip of the line stock. They were made to haul loads and work not race. I'd stick with Dodge. Realiabilty, easy to maintain and work on Buddy .

This is one of those things where you need to test drive them both and decide for yourself.

LBZ Chevy. With $1500, will run mid 13s and get good mpg.

I have an 06 lbz and as long as you dont plan on touching the motor as in a tuner or turbos anything like that, id buy an lbz. Im almost scared to do mine because of dpeeding to much (not trying to talk up lbz or anything) but it does haul ass and itll get you from 45 to 65 in the drop of a gear before you can look at the speedometer again. But if your looking for the loud noise that travels thru neighborhoods, buy a cummins. The lbz is very quiet for being diesel

Common Rail cummins 5 or 6 speed manual with $1500, a good tune will run that too, and top the fuel mileage of a LBZ. Everyone knows the LLY get's the better fuel economy. LBZ are shit for economy but amazing for building power. There both really good engines. You just gotta decide... Better MPG, easier to maintance, and make plenty of power, then go a Common rail route. Want power, and shitty mileage, go LBZ route. Choice is yours hoss.

I just sold my 03 cummins for a 2006 lbz duramax and I lke it so far. Cummins make really nice power with alittle money into it. and they are easy to work on. I really like this allison trans so far shifts alot better then the 48re did. But they will both make big power they will both run fast track times it just depends on what ever you like.

I second the mileage my common rail was better with mpgs. But I still average 15-17 every tank with the lbz and about 20-21 at all highway at 75mph.

i wouldnt fall to hard on the comment of the lbz making great power with shit economy. right now i own an lb7 and lbz along with 98 12 valve. the lb7 does a little better but my lbz is crew cab long box on thirty fives and drive forty minutes to work and beat on it when i go home and still average 16-17 in bumper to bumper driving. the twelve does fine so long as you short shift and keep it under fifty five on the thruway but runs like a bear. Im also currently helping a co worker build his 06 5.9 and with bigger injectors exhaust and tuning and my lbz still walks away in mileage and power and the mods for it consist of a lift pump moded stock air box five inch exhaust and some tuning from the guys at adrenaline. cummins is easier to work on but the potential out of that dmax with very little xtras will surprise you, great daily driving, pavement tearing and hauling, all around good trucks for everything not just really good at one. either way THEYRE DIESELS YOU CANT BE DISAPPOINTED. :rocking:

I love my cummins to death for the reliability factor, highway milege is pretty good with a quadzilla tuner i can average 22-24 area at 75 on flat roads. However my brothers LB7 smokes me in city mileage and speed. I just cant get over the independent suspension, otherwise i would have gone the GM route.
