What Knagel said,
after reading this over again, it seems that the first thing to check is the pressure relief valve. Google "Duramax bottle test". should get you all sorts of info on how to check if it is leaking. or... just shim it anyways |

For more than 2 years periodically out of the blue the engine will not rev over 2000RPM! if you stop and turn the truck off and wait 2 minutes and restart it will go back to running fine, sometimes for a minute sometimes for a month. i took it to a dealer and they said it was the computer, egr, and egr cooler. I replaced them all and it made no difference. i have put over 50k miles on the truck fighting this , any Ideas? The truck has 215k and runs like new when this is not happening.

Duramax Boggs at 2000rpm
I've had this same problem on mine and I changed the fuel filter and air filter no fix, but then I went to the fuel filter and the red wire that connects on there was loose so I played with and pushed it back on there nice and good haven't had the problem since hope this helps

I have changed the fuel filter multiple times. I will take off from a stop and upon acceleration it will stumble and then boom it just won't go over 2000rpm. This does not generate any codes either!! So anyone have any ideas??

Same thing just happened to me. I changed both batteries a couple of weeks ago and sometime either shortly or immediately after my truck won’t go past 2000 rpm. The fuel pressure gauge on the tower is normally very active and now it just sits on 8 or 10. No power hardly whatsoever... I changed the fuel filter last night and if it helped at all it’s barely noticeable. I should also note that I let the fuel tank get close to empty around the time this started as well. The truck has a chip in it and it’s got 200 k miles on it. Looking at taking it into the shop but just curious if anyone can point me in the right direction here with a diagnosis? Thanks |
