Truck Shakes
My Dmax shakes at certain mph like around 55 and 70 mph...
HELP!! Thanks Dmax Kid |
sounds like driveshaft u-joint possibley
|
How would i check to see if it was the u joints
|
park the truck in a flat spot. put a block behind a tire. put the truck and neutral and if your not a little scrawny thing get under the truck and shake the sh*t outta your driveshaft and see if it has any play. look at the caps on the ends and see if any have busted or fallen off too. i'm assuming you know what a ujoint is haha. also it make squeak bad in reverse mine did that before i changed it. if its a u joint you can change it in an hour or so i changed mine after school not to long ago. be sure to change both while the drive shaft is out. its worth it believe me.

do you go mudding in the truck, when was the last time u got tires alignment or tires balanced, are there any loose suspension and steering parts? get under the truck and try to wiggle everything in the front .
|
it doesnt squeek in reverse...
and how much does u joints cost? and also what if its not the ujoints? |
U joints will probably be like 35 bucks a piece or so im just guessing i cant remember and it depends on what kind of shake it is really. it could be anything in your front suspension, a tire that is off balance, or even mud packed inside your rims. jack the front end of your truck up and try and shake everything in the front suspension. try the tie rods first my dads truck shakes from a bad tie rod end. and if its more of a growl and almost a rough vibration it could be a wheel bearing. many many things could be possible but most likely its simple. sorry if i confused you im not good with keeping thoughts together

its more of a jerking shake
|
If its a jerking from side to side at random times on dry pavement you probably have a worn part in the front end do as the others are saying and check your front end parts, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings n just go over your front end. If it is jerking when one of the front tires hits a patch of ice and the other is on dry pavement you probably just have an alignment issue. Make sure you have your front end on stands or something safe you don't want a dmax saying hello to your tender parts in a rapid dropping motion. just my .02

Okay.. and the jerking is back and forth
