turbo/ exhaust trouble?

So our truck is all stock besides a 4" MBRP straight pipe with no cat. Before a few days ago it had a really loud hiss that sounded great when you got on it. But all of a sudden when you get on it now it just makes this deep rumble and sounds like crap. :td: My boyfriend describes it as a 350 with a glass pack, if that explains the noise a little better. Also we were told that the vane position sensor might be going out. How do we know for sure or is their a way to know for sure? No codes have come up or anything like that. Anything helps at this point but since we travel all the time it needs to be fixed. I don't want to be stranded. :ohno:

the vanes could be stuck, you can find a bunch of people in Missouri with the right kind of scan tool to monitor vane position and see what is going on in there.

dealer, there are a handful of people with efi live who might be able to help you out, a bunch of shops around Missouri.

or the dealer.

us sticking them involves pulling it apart. maybe beating it with a hammer to loosen up carbon buildup

I am taking it to a diesel mechanic in like an hour. I just drove it home 6 hours and something is definetly not right. It smokes going up hills, rpms stayed at 2000 no matter if you matted it, and no boost at all. It took me probably 30 seconds to go from 50 to 70mph.

No codes came up they said it was fine! wth is going on :dang::argh:

Thats what I thought.

you have airflow problems, you need to get it to a proper mechanic, it shouldn't smoke, it would seem that you are having turbo problems, it could just be the solenoid, but last I checked the solenoid is not cheap to replace:s:

My boyfriend told me it always smokes like that. I didn't think so but who knows.

a problem like that it wont throw a code, u need a diagnostic tool like a tech II, efi live, or on of those $7000 diagnostic tools to commend the solenoid to open and close.
