any know how on this duramax turbo?
 

First post on this forum, i signed up looking for some help on this turbo i bought and not coming up with answers on the web.

So i picked up this Garrett turbo for cheap to toy around with or resale later but anyway it supposed to be for between 04-09 Duramax trucks and doesn't state anything else but that it has been sitting for awhile.

I've checked it for all the usual side to side play and thrust play but all checks out except for a tight spot which i can't turn the turbine past, and if i rotate it back the other way it gets stuck again about 50% rotation is what i have.

Now i have seen blown turbos and this doesn't feel like one at all with zero side to side play, could there be a blockage or maybe something to do with variable vanes?

I really want to salvage this thing, if anyone could post some info on this turbo thanks, i still have no idea what it is exactly.

I'm not real confident in this answer, but if it's been sitting for awhile it may be possible that the shaft may have rusted up and seized the shaft up some. With no lubrication, that would be my guess.
