Switch on????

Whenever I go anywhere with my truck and then go to shut it off the PRNDL [gear indicator} stays lit along with the battery lite on the upper left on dash, if I start it and turn it right back off the lites will go off and stay off until I drive it again then... same thing. After doing this a few times I thought I was going to need a starter, so just for the hell of it one day I turned on the headlights and the lites in question turned off, so now I turn on the headlights almost everytime I shut the truck off and I turn on the headlights for about 30 seconds and everything is good, This has drained the batteries dead overnight before, thats how I caught it. I have changed the ignition switch inside the column with the same results. Anybody got any ideas what could be doing this????

i'm not familar with how the bd is connected to your truck, but i have heard of some other truck owners having some wierd things happening to their truck while using the bd. just for the heck of it, you might want to try completely removing the bd to see.

I forgot to mention that after removing the key and open the door it will continue to chime until I do the headlight thing. And this has all been happening since before the BD. Thanks for your help G

Could be a bad door switch. They are buried inside the latch.

Or it could be a bad ignition switch. There is a switch inside that lets the truck know that the key is still in the ignition.
