no oil pressure

I have a 2005 LLY and the oil pressure drops between 0 and 10 psi at idle. Pressure resumes back to normal under regular driving conditions. Is this an oil pressure switch problem or something else? I dont think its the gauge cluster because it still reading pressure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know there is an actual pressure sensor in these trucks, not a pressure switch, this might sound like a dumb question but is there enough oil in the engine?? and if there is what weight is it?? 15w40 syn is what i would recommend

oil pressure

Yes plenty of oil. The problem strangely fixed itself my computer registed as ok. Now the oil gauge is reading fine. Could this mean tht the sensor is starting to fail? I use Rotella 15w40. Thank you for your response. I appreciate it.

I noticed a little oil somewhere above the steering column. Is that sensor on the left side of the engine?

above the steering column is probably coming from your brake booster, very common

I honestly dont know where the oil pressure sensor is, but it could indicate a loose connection or a bad sensor

Its odd that you didnt get a CEL when the gauge was reading low....

the oil pressure sending unit is on the driver side, near the front on the bottom, its kinda hard to see unless you remove the inter cooler tube thats in the way.
