COOLANT QUESTION?????

So i have a minor coolant leak on the drive side of my truck. Not sure exactly where it is coming from. I am thinking about throwing a gallon of water on my eng just to clean it all off and then when the water drys starting the truck up just to see if i can find the leak, HERE COMES THE QUESTION..... Is there a pic or anything similar to a pic out there of all the coolant lines on the driver side? Like i said i know the general area of the leak but not 100% sure where it is coming from, so if i had something to reference to as to which lines are coolant lines then i could narrow my search. I am planning on doing my MP mod this weekend so ill have my truck garaged so if i could get an answer by then, that would kick ass. I know for a fact that the driver side wheel fender is going to have to come out, but i would like to know what the hell i am looking at.:argh:

Is your EGR blocked? I've heard it can cause the EGR cooler to leak. Check the weep hole on the bottom of your water pump. That's a known issue as well.

the leak seems to be on the back side of the engine near the firewall. but i'm tearing into the truck tonight so i'll check out your suggestions, thanks SGT

That sounds more like the EGR cooler. Hope that's all it is. Good luck.

Got to looking last night, it appears to be one of my lines on the driverside, by the wheel well. but i also found a line comeing from my front differincal that was barely on, so i shoved that little guy (smaller that 1/2 inch) back on and threw a clamp in it for good measure. we'll see what happens. the coolant line i found had some evidence that it was leaking from the sleeve on the end of the line. and EGR cooler, never heard of it where is it

The EGR cooler is on the passenger side of the motor right above the cylinder heads. It should have a 5/8" heater hose running into it at the front and the back. That tube coming off your diff should be the breather tube.

Is that partcular line near the fuel filter? If so i checked it and it was on there tight. I also removed the plastic and aluminum skid plates and looked at all the lines above that because there was evidence of fluid on the aluminium skid plate about mid way and to the rear of the plate. But i found no line that where leaking above it.

It is near the fuel filter, but the line should come out of the firewall, go into the cooler, and then come out again behind the riser. It would probably be the cooler itself that is leaking. If the leak is coming down behind the block, it would probably be the cooler. If it's in front on the skid plate, I'd say it's your water pump. If it's both, then I'd say get rid of the EGR, and you need a new water pump.

COOLANT QUESTION?????

check your turbo coolant line. mine had cracked and dry rotted and wasn't leaking bad but over time it would lower the coolant level and keep me guessing. I couldnt find the leak cause it was filling up the lifter valley then after a hard run or long drive it would leak down the back of the block and drip on the front carrier. I replaced the small hose and haven't had a problem since. I hope this helps you. also had a leak on the lower radiator hose pass side. a weak clamp on the smaller hose. changed clamps and fixed that as well.

well i still have the leak. i am thinking it may very well be the turbo coolant line. my only concern is that im not seeing any evidence of coolant on top of the eng. but hey it may be in a spot that wont leak on top of the eng.
