tranny limped?

Crusing one night i passed a few slow cars i put my tow/haul on and as i passed the vehicles i turned it off my truck surged threw the engine light on and was stuck in 4th gear as i got to my destination the tranny felt like it was slipping as i pulled out and as I put the truck into reverse the R on the shifter was blinking and wouldnt engage I turned off the truck cycled the the key a few times and it went into reverse.

On my way home that night the engine light went off I got home to check the codes with my PPE programmer and it said there wasnt any

The programmer was set to 120 but I have since lowered it to 80. also my "change fuel filter" light comes on when I start the truck.

should this be a major concern for me? Is there a major risk to some serious breakage? Or am I just being paranoid?

Im hoping dropping the programmer down a setting is good enough.
any suggestions, comments good or bad are GREATLY appreciated!
thanks in advance

you limped the trans. the trans will lock itself into 4th if it senses slipage. all you have to do is turn it off and let it sit for about 30 seconds and it will clear itself. mine has been doing it for 2+ years now and hasnt caused any problems. after long enough of driving it with the programer you will know how far you can push it before it will limp.

it will cause problems, every time it slips the clutches have burns on then and their holding ability goes down each time it limps
