high egt's lately

idk if it is a big deal but my truck is running 800-1100 degrees criusin at 75-80 mph... it used to run 700-900 degrees i dont ever recall it goin over 1000 in the same situation... it has been very windy but i dont think it should effect it that much... and one night onmy way home from work the turbo had a hummm to it at 80 mph only... if i dropped the criuse to 75 the hummm went away... i thought maybe my egt probe was bad but it is brand new... all in all im just kinda worried... i have an edge jiuce with attitude cold air intake and 3.5" straight pipe...

Changes in programming will normally change EGT's. Is all that the same from then to now?

DIRTYMAX2004 01-11-2009 09:10 PM

yes ive had the egt probe sense i installed the edge... i always have it set in economy unless im messin around... and if i put it in stock setting it drops the egt's bout 50 degrees but it still runs up to 1000

:humm: Tires the same size as before too?

Doesn't really make since if everything is the same. The wind will add to load and add EGTs, but the cooler weather will help lower EGTs due to cooler intake air and cooler air through the rad/intercooler stack.

ive been runnin the bigger tires for bout 2 months now... but come to think of it my air filter is quite dirty

2500HeavyDuty 01-11-2009 09:21 PM

that could be a problem, ive hit 1600* before with a clogged filter mudding with no programmer on the truck either

Rttoys 01-11-2009 09:28 PM

:ok1: possible air filter.

DIRTYMAX2004 01-11-2009 09:29 PM

i dont like the k&n that i have on there right now and i dont want to reinstall my stock air box mainly cuz idk where it is :madd:... i just want to get a different cone filter

Rttoys 01-11-2009 09:40 PM

It's been tested that the stocker filters and flows better than the aftermarket units.
