P0087
Damn truck threw a P0087 this morning. It was about -8 and I had it idling for about 10 minutes before I jumped in it. Wouldn't go over 20 and then threw the code. I unloaded the PPE (I had it on L2.) and it runs fine now.
Is this common with a PPE? |
Could be something with the cold. Seems like some programmers don't add their power until the engine is warmed up enough, if that makes sense.
|
I had that problem with my predator (on my LLY) one time when I was in Iowa, not sure if I let it warm up enough though.

yep ur desired pressure didnt meet ur demanded pressure, i used to get them all the time untill i turned it off with efi live :D

That's really weird. I was only on L2 and was giving it maybe 1/4 throttle.
Let it warm up this morning for about 10 minutes with the high idle engaged and didn't have any problems. |

He has the PPE Standard.. Johnny, I have had no issues so far with my PPE and the cold weather.. I have my high idle engaged as well and it was about 3 degrees in El Reno, OK yesterday when I went and got my camper.. I just let it warm up untill engine temps are normal.. You might try a shim kit bud..:U:

Well it was -15* this morning and the truck did the same damn thing. I'm back to stock since I'm trying to sell the programmer too. I plug it in at night and let it idle every morning. I thought it might be an engine temp issue at first but it was still doing this when I got to work, 15 miles away and the heater was hot. I have to climb a huge hill to get to work that I normally run 70-80 up but could only see about 20 today with a ton of white-blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe. CEL is on with the same code too. This is starting to piss me off.

i think it is an lly thing cuz i can be running striaght #1 and the thing will still go into limp mode at -10 and below... i found if i let it get nice and warm while it is limping then stop and turn it off and let the computer reset it will run normal...
|
Well since I've basically said the same thing twice I'll keep it short to close out the issue. My fuel was gelling. Problem solved.
