Do you know where the injectors are in a lb7?

Got one in the shop right now, r&r all 8 and replace fuel filter, all torqued to spec and we are on 10 hours right now and will fire it up in 10-15 minutes. No injector cup service. Book is 12.7 add injector cups and you are looking at an additional 1.6 book hours.
Not saying it cant be done in less. But If your quoting a little less than 1/2 the book hour to complete a job... You wont be working in this shop!

well sorry guys but, warranty only pays 6 hrs at gm so, you better be busting ass to make it. Granted, if you have to clean the injector lines you can forget about gettin it done in 6hrs. itll be more like 8. As far as cups go, ocasionally a few will pull out but if youre not goin in a replacing 8 cups it doesnt really affect your time. Now that pretty much all are customer pay its a cake walk at 12 hrs. Sounds like you should hire a real d-max tech and maybe get a little more money out of your shop. at 6 to 8 hrs Im part way through another inj. job that would still be sitting out in your parking lot. I am however glad to see a diesel shop in NC. Im originally from hickory, I keep toying with the idea of moving back and starting a shop. Diesels are finally starting to catch on down there.

Actually warranty labor is 9.1. As I said, might be possible but you couldn't do your job the way I would expect it to be done. Im here to offer my customers the best product possible at the most reasonable value possible. Not trying to be bill gates, just feed my family.
Look, im not starting a war or trying to down your work , I just feel that as a shop owner its my job to evaluate performance based on quality of the repair, time required to complete, and the manner in which the tech deals with customers. I would rather have a job take longer to complete than require a come back.

from ky or nc? warranty time at dealer was 6 hrs plus .5 for cleaning fuel injector lines. Im pretty sure thats what we all try to do is take care of the customer. I just popped the 4-6 to start a pissing war for fun. My average is 8 with best of 5.5 hrs. I did the 5.5trying to beat my buddys 4 flat. I can do them in my sleep wich should be expected with how many Ive done. Theres a diff. between doing 1 or 2 a week or more for two years than someone that might do 1 or 2 a month. Idk how many you do but just sayin. Ive never had one come back but, ive had to fix several other shops mistakes.

Here what GM calls for on install time and the warranty time is not how much labor it takes to do the injectors but what they get comped for the warranty work. And we normally bill alittle more than that because we sonic blast all the lines

No offense but sounds like you recanting. Just verified with the local gm store - as always GM matches alldata and mitchells book hour.
There tech's time at this store is of course paid 12.7 for all 8. Considering most LB7's are out of warranty!

nah i dont know him, yes they are out of warranty now but 4 years ago plenty were covered with the special coverage for 7yrs or 200k or something along those lines. I only got to do one customer pay while I was there and I can assure you I was paid 6hrs for injector job and 2hr for diag. for warranty and Yes customer pay is in 12hrs and change. I probly was gettin screwed wich is typical of a dealership. Doesnt really matter Im salary now and labor times no longer concern me. We all have mitchell and alldata go by whatever labor you want. GM uses SI and yes the times should be same.

No offense but you would never lay a hand on my truck. I work in the aerospace field so maybe I'm a little more attention to detail than most, but saying you have completed this job in 5.5 hours is crazy and irresponsible. Your not talking about rushing through a brake job here these parts are not cheap and personally if I found out you tried to beat your buddy's time on my truck IDE be pissed.

haha, we have a guy here that was in the aerospace field always talking bout attention to detail and hes the sloppiest person on earth, looses more tools than anyone ive ever seen. If he is any indication of how you guys that mess with planes work, Ill never fly again. I dont do brake jobs btw, that is below me. I know how expensive the parts are and just because someone can do a job faster than you dont mean they did it wrong. Considering I am responsible for every engine build, tranny, rearend, frontend repair and all hi po work including 20 and 30k dollar engines I think its safe to say I know what Im doing. Everything we do here has at least a one year warranty, you dont stand behind garbage and we dont put garbage out there.
