Big Bang!!

So i was driving down the highway on my way to work and got a big surprise, all of a sudden the truck vibrated violently then a big bang and the back of the truck jumped up a foot!:scare2:
When i pulled over to see what had happened i noticed i have no driveshaft and my transfer case was hangin by the wires.:argh:
Best explanation i can come up with, my transfer case piled up my driveshaft tore out from the rear u joint (found it 1/2 mile away) and i drove over it and as that happed it pulled my transfer case out sideways which snapped it off of the tranny. all the splines are mangled.
What are the chances that my tranny is damaged?:humm:

Any input is greatly appreciated!!!
Thnks

if the splines on the trans are mangled im guessing you have internal issues as well, did you have a leak in your t-case housing? this is just one bizzare thing to happen

Hopefully your transmission extension housing isn't damaged.

Transmission comes out to replace it correctly (provided it's an Allison).

These chev t cases have problems with the pump going bad. Mabye that might be a possible cause

Usually that just results in a melted range fork and a lack of movement.....

I've repaired at least a couple hundred broken transfer cases with "porous" rear case halves due to the pump ear wearing through the steel "shim" and ultimately the housing. I've never seen one seize up though....they just quit moving because the aluminum range shift fork melts and won't hold the drive sleeve in the planetary housing anymore.

Hey all. :hellox:
Been awhile trucks all back together, still unclear on what caused it but ended up needing new transfer case because we found internals had some wear and case got damaged, new transmission because of rear splines that had spun and the tail housing was in 2 pieces, new driveshaft and a whole s**+ load of wiring and flashing the ECM! :dang:
Anyway I need to get pics up of everything but now have the old girl is built up she won't have that issue again. Support bars in place to hold t-case from moving and also anti wrap bars for the rear end. All good now spinning the 35s without wheel hop too:tu:
