some info from the dmax guys please!
ok. i have a cummins which i am about to turn into a puller and i am in the market for a new DD. i found a 2003 dmax xcab 4x4 mint condition with 108,000 miles. the guy want $18,000. is that to much? what should i look for when inspecting? is the LB7 a good motor? any major issues with them? thanks guys in advance for your help.:c:

The LB7 is one of the best motor IMO. Just be weary of the injectors. Ask the person selling if the injectors were replaced in the mass recall. Offer the guy 16k Unless its like in perfect condition.

$18k is a little much. Not many lb7 trucks are worth more than $16k like stated above. I paid $16k for my dually 1 year ago with 150k. If you can, get the vin and have a vin check done at your local dealer. They will be able to tell you if the injectors had ever been done under warranty. Mine lasted to 178k miles and then I decided it was time. I probably could have went a bit longer but opted not too. As long as those injectors are ingood shape the truck is overall one of the best. They have the fewest emmisons of all the Duramax engines, and therefore get the best overall fuel economy. If you ever decided to mod it, the lb7 is the cream of the crop. They love power adders.

sweet thanks guys! the injectors WERE changed when recalled and he has the invoice as proof. any thing else?:c:

Nothing is coming to mind other than check under body for rust
|
Nope. Should be good to go. Just check it over like you would any other truck.
|
hey torque, i gotta few questions for you if you got a second
|
Shoot buddy.
Oh two more things comes to mind. When the truck is running watch the rpms and listen to the motor run. If the rpms are jumping and the motor is surging in sequence the fuel pressure regulator is on it's way. That's another common thing. Secondly. Look underneath the truck at the transfer case it's common the t case rubs against the pump causing damage to the tcase |
thank guys:c: i really appreciate all the tips!:tu:
