lb7 acting goofy, please help

I have an 02 dmax. Was driving it bout 3 weeks ago, took off from a stop light slipping on some ice hit dry pavement heard a boom. Nothing seemed to be wrong till I got bout 20 mins down the road. Went to pass a car and it acted like it was jelling up. Finished running errons and it didn't do it again till this mornin when I was comin home from work. Only this time it was worse I hit 30 mph and it started lugging my rpms started going up and down. Couldn't go over 45 mph and rpms wouldn't go over 1800. What's going on?

i don't k now if this is a possibility but it's the first thing popped into my head. Do you have a Programmer? How long is the truck yours maybe the guy before you had one. Anyway i know they can make a lot of power and if Shh it is burned up in there maybe the clutches are getting weak and can't hold it, in which case maybe you threw it into 'limp mode' which would explain the low power output and i've heard of 'limp mode' being alot like jelled fuel. thats my best stab at it. good luck would like to hear how yiou make out with it though:humm:

Change your fuel filter first i would start there..

cowboy_up 01-06-2011 11:21 AM

I did change it. It still does it.

Codes....?

cowboy_up 01-06-2011 02:10 PM

I borrowed my buddies ppe programer to check if there were any codes. Came up with the standard tranny code (0700) but nothin else. I cleared it and it still did it. I installed the lowest race setting (130 HP) and it quite. Until he needed it back and I uninstalled it.

Torque Monster 01-06-2011 02:35 PM

Is the truck surging at all?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

P0700 is the tcm telling the ECM there is an internal transmission code. Get a tech 2 scanner or an efi live v2 to see what it is. That's probably your problem.

cowboy_up 01-06-2011 02:44 PM

I did that to there wasn't an internal code. I don't know what the hell is going on.

Torque Monster 01-06-2011 02:50 PM

Then I would suggest taking it to a GM certified tech.

There Is an unlimited amour of things to guess that could be wrong with it. Or it could be simple.

Cracked WIF sensor maybe? It's common.

cowboy_up 01-06-2011 02:58 PM

Im scheduled for Monday. Thanx man

Torque Monster 01-06-2011 03:12 PM

Go check the water infuel sensor on the bottom. Might be cracked and save you some money before taking to a shop.

cowboy_up 01-06-2011 03:25 PM

On the bottom of the fuel filter? Did that no water and sensor isn't cracked but I ordered a new one just to rule it out for sure

Torque Monster 01-06-2011 03:39 PM

If it's not cracked did you make sure the wires werent bare, and that it was threaded in tight?

cowboy_up 01-06-2011 03:51 PM

I just looked againit was tight but I noticed the black wire had a little tear in it. I ran it by my mechanic and he said that shouldnt make my truck do what its doin

You never know man. It could. My truck was acting a fool at one point back in theday. It was intermittent. It came and went. I looked everywhere. I couldn't find shit! Then one day I looked under the hood and noticed this

Attachment 43686

My Ect sensor melted to where it was not fastening to the clip
