Once you limp it, you might as well upgrade because it is going to happen all of the time.

Oh yeah, nice choice of words, poo pooed and tinkled. I like that, :c:

Wow I just noticed that. The mods changed that. It originally said $hit

That was the trans limp mode. Its happened to me a couple of times before i knew what it was. When i would put my programmer on the 450hp setting on my ppe as soon as my truck would go to shift at around 65-90 at full throttle, it would do just like you said. The Allison has its own separate computer and when it thinks that the trans is about to slip it puts the trans in limp to save itself, too many times of this and you wont have any clutches left:ouch:. The allison is only able to withstand about an extra 90hp safely without needing to build a more hd trans.

Thanks for that info. I will keep that in mind. I always thought it was 90HP that it could handle?

Nope, not on yours... Some guys will tell you 90-100hp, but that's for the 6speed alli's, they're a little more robust than the 5 speed. In my experience, a +50RWHP is good, anything above that requires a lot of attention while driving to gently ease into that power, and even then you may not be able to really hammer it to the limit. But if you want that power, an upgrade is mandatory in the long run... I've heard guys that have limped theirs 10 times and they still think it's okay... I don't know about you but dislocating a shoulder once is bad enough for me, why risk it again? Beef that sucker up!

what do you do to beef it up and how much we looking at my truck has done the same

its the tranny limp mode my friends truck did it on stage 5 he just had to put it in park and let the tranny cool down. then it worked fine. but its probably not the best for the stock tranny
