03 Dmax Stock Guage Cluster Not Working Right?
 

THis is an 03 dmax. when the truck is started all guages will not work . Then we shut it off and restart it works fine. The only thing that the truck has is an edge juice with att. Any clue why this would happen?

The cluster is connected to the BCM and ECM. Pull the bezel and the screws holding the cluster in and check the connections on the back to make sure they didnt pop out. If you dont find a connection problem then you are having an issue with one of the two computers. You will know when it's communicating correctly when you turn the ignition key on and all the needles sweep full right and then back left.

Were is this connection?

The BCM is right in front of the driver's seat just behind the knee bolster. It has 3 connectors facing toward the seat. You remove the knee bolster by removing 2-7mm head screw from the bottom of it. Then pull the bottom of the cluster trim bezel loose. Pull straight toward you with the knee bolster and it will come loose.

My $.02 on this is it's quite possibly an ignition switch. I've replaced several from '01 to early '04. They would also drop the gauges intermittently while driving. To diagnose the ignition switch correctly you really need a Tech2 to monitor the ignition feed voltage.

good chance your cluster is shot they were junk from the factory.....put several in myself have to get the dealer to program them with your mileage and vin. if your under 80,000 they are under an extended warranty
