What Tranny Does The 03 Have
What tranny does the 03 have? Also what are some good intakes.
|
03 Dmax has the Allison Transmission. The most popular intakes are the AFE Kits or the Airaid Kits. Most people shine away from the K&N Intakes and Filters.

Luke!!!!! Come On Man!!!!!
hehehe It has the 5spd Allison LCT1000! Its a very high quality tranny, but will only handle approx. 100HP over factory! These beast are expensive, Dont take a chance with one! ......Wait.......I make 500 on one in my work truck....and its stock..... I dont recomend that, but it just goes to show how tough they are! |
At 500hp that stock tranny isnt going to last long. (Dont ask me how I know this) How many times have you limped it? :)
|
About.....i dunno 50
Its on its last legs, It hauls 18,000-19000lbs all day long! With a Mike L Seatrab Cooler on it it never see's over 150 Deg! Its done great but last time I changed the filter it was full of peices ! I will say , it's not ran on higher levels but the charger still trys to blow right through it! |
If you would let Mike build it for ya you'll never have another problem again.
|
Mike's the man and funny as heck to talk to! I buy my coolers dirrect from him! I'll just buy a stage 5, I'm dirrect with suncoast ;)

Mike and his guys built my last trans. and did a bang up job. He is very capable with the Allison.

Yeah but you wont get the additional mods that Mike does.
Besides, This is just a work truck! |
Yes he did, the kit is called Snake Oil and is fully available. He has installed one installed in one of my customers trucks along with a SCIV and a cooler.

Well of course Kat. Capser is Mike's guinea pig.
|
Have you noticed reductions in temps? Looks like I need to call mike, havent talked to him in a while!
|
Yes, you should see a temp reduction especially when towing. You might want o give Mike a call.

This is what McRat said about Casper when Mike tore him down. I think Pat was mistaken though. That converter did not have 70 passes on it. It was a lot less.

Hard parts have over 500 passes on them, clutches and converter have 70+ passes on them at over 700rwhp. Hard parts, AOK. All are in reuseable condition. C3 clutches show medium wear. No limping, no pockets, no delam, no warp. Converter? Clutch hosed. I would say the C3 Oiler probably helped since this trans was often hot-lapped, and had been burned-down at the staging lights by some trucks, but the wear was what I'd consider to normal for a 500HP truck after a year of racing. |
I remember that post. That was definitely good news and showed that Mikes mod was working.
|
so would it be ok to put a banks six gun on a stock allsion?
|
Well sure it would, but I wouldn't run it on Kill mode all the time if you drive hard. Always run it in a tow tune when towing, let the trans re-learn when going up in tunes, and start saving for a trans if you have a heavy right foot. :U: Something that will help prolong your trans lifespan is a trango shift kit. Quite inexpensive too. But nothing is like having an aftermarket trans.:5:
