I still don't want one. Not that it's a bad engine it's just not the end all be all and I'm buying the whole truck and not overly crazy about Dodge.

I feel ya about not caring much for dodge. I always swore to myself i'd never buy a dodge unless it's got a cummins. Now I need another one. Best motor out there.

A chevy with an isuzu motor on the other hand.. those isuzu guys brag about 130 and 180k miles. Look at the guy a few posts up.. gone thru 3 sets of injectors. I had STOCK injectors on my 300k mile beat up 12v.

I am sure there has never been a Cummins that went through 3 sets of injectors or a Dmax that has never had 300k miles with stock injectors???? Also as you pointed out, 3 posts above it was noted they had 180,000 miles on their DMAX with no problems, of course you left that out.

Please stay off of the DMAX threads, really....Your posts are based on opinions and that does not help anyone.

Yea I kinda fell the same way. The best diesel ever is a pretty step claim. If you want my honest opinion all of the big 3 have good diesels in them and it really just depends on which emblem you want to look at all day. I posted here because I wanted people who own lb7 Duramaxs input on how they liked them. I already know the Duramax is a great engine but the Lb7 is the first one of them and because of that would be more prone to problems the rest of them wouldn't be. From everything I have found if you aren't scared to work on them yourself (because of the high labor cost when something does break and the age of the truck)there a good one to own.

I have a 6.5 with 300k on the original injectors and over 150k on the pump does that make it the greatest diesel ever built?

I like my Cummins alot don't get me wrong and I even like the Dodge that comes with it, I just think for an everyday driver the duramax is a better option and capable of lots of power for not very much money

And thats what I am talking about. You like your Dodge and your Cummins and thats all that matters. I am a Chevy guy but in the end I am more of a deal guy. Someone come along with a good enough deal and I will be driving a dodge.

To the LB7 question, I had an 03 and loved it. It was my first diesel and I never had any problems with it that I did not cause.

I don't think you can go wrong, plus if you think it is a good buy then it is a good buy.

180k miles really isn't anything to brag about.. I had a 193k mile 5.8 Bronco back in the day that was bone stock minus tires and batteries.

I had 300k miles on a STOCK pump, injectors, tranny, timing, etc.

BTW I've also owned a 7.3 psd 6spd. The best overal vehicle I've ever owned PERIOD.
