new turbo

got me a custom 71mm turbo, new pedistal, down pipe... going to put it in next weekend... anyone have a turbo this big an how much boost do you get??

depends on what kind of turbo it is. does it have a compressor map?

that downpipe is gonna give you some trouble, if you dont have a long flex head socket wrench i suggest you get one thats about 18 inches in 3/8 drive and a 14mm crows foot will help with the nut on the passenger side of the down pipe.

ok does it take very long to switch out a turbo

the hardest part will be getting the downpipe and the up pipes unbolted. i went though two 12pt sockets getting all those pipes loose. they are really right.

i havent swapped a turbo before, but have been a bolt or two away when i was doing my heads itl be a breeze after geting the pipes out of the way.

off topic but, why do you have a 71mm turbo and no built trans?

just curios, how long did it take you to get the old one out.

2500HeavyDuty 02-04-2010 11:25 AM

depends on the year model because you have to get the downpipe out and the lb7 ones are a huuuuge pain in the ass to get out. i havent replaced mine yet so i dont know 100%
