Looks in great shape. I know that trucks sell for more in the NE considerably than they do farther west, so $20,000 might not be unreasonable. Used prices have also rebounded considerably since this time 12 months ago. I'd offer $17,000 for it since it's a private sale though and see if he'll budge. Otherwise, looks like a good truck.

Check the service records and see if the injectors have been replaced. If they haven't, bear in mind that you will undoubtedly have to replace them at some point, and they won't be warrantied because the truck is over 7 years old now....In that case, I definitely wouldn't pay the asking price.

If they have been replaced, I still think $20,000 is too high for a 2001 even with low miles...I think $15000-$17000 is a reasonable offer.

How much are the injectors for this truck? It's a little rough around the edges but my tacoma is way to small for my family.

These LB7 motors? how long are they known to go for? I need at least 60K out of it.

This engine will easily last you 200,000 miles if it's kept well maintained.

To do injectors yourself will probably cost about $1600. Labour is the biggest issue. To get it done in a shop will probably cost $3000 but I'm not sure on that.

depends where you buy the injectors from. i got min2 for 250(x8) each so thats about 2k plus about 100 for little things i needed when i did mine.

dealer will charger about 4k to do it.

truck should last you a long time if you just have it to get things here and there as long as u keep up with regular maintenence.

Ok well i called him up, hes an older guy, and retireing and selling off a LIST of things, hes the original owner and all maintaince was done by dealer. The injectors were done 2/3 years ago. I have to pull the service records but i figure maybe 20K ago. He is the original owner and used it to go back and forth to his farm upstate NY. towing his boat. He said he'd prob take 19K for it. Im gonna swing by a chevy dealer tomorrow and see if i can get the service records.

wjat do you guys thinK/

19 still seems alot to me

even if it has only 90k miles on it, that truck probably has been babied all its life.

ryanf 11-19-2009 03:55 PM

Yea Im pretty sure it has, but I've found a few 06's wih 60K-70K listed at dealers for $26-30000. For the extra 5 years the truck is 5 years newer. I think I will offer hime 16000 and tell him its low, but if he changes his mind, ill take it.
