2001 Duramax

131,000 mile. I was driveing to work, and as i was getting on the expressway i had to get on it pretty hard, as i hit 65 mph, it just lost all get up and go, will not get over 2000 rpms, will run good at 65 but no more. pull off the side of the road, shut it off, starts right back up and runs good up to 65 again then falls again. i changed the fuel filter and air filter and drove it for a good while and no problem till i get on it again and it started doing it again.

HELP:ouch:

Are you getting a Check Enginge Light (CEL)? not going over 2000 RPM's sounds like you may have limped the Allison Trans.

Rttoys 02-20-2009 01:30 PM

Any power adders? like a programmer.

You are hiting a limp mode, no matter what, though.

What's the temperature?

Sounds like you're gelling up.

Happened to me as I got to North Texas from San Antonio in December. Fuel filter was pretty plugged up, so I changed that and started running some Howes, and since then it's been fine.

If it's not that, maybe a fuel system problem. Low fuel pressure perhaps?

ranchand 02-20-2009 02:44 PM

it was 82 deg lite mist.

Go to Auto Wiennie and get the codes checked so we can see if it's an engine limp or tranny limp.

may sound dum, but how do you check oil psi?

Rttoys 02-22-2009 10:44 AM

He probably refering to, check your oil dipstick to see if the oil is way overfilled, as if the injectors are failing and dumping so much fuel it's going by the rings and into the oil crankcase. This will also change the oil pressure which you can see on you dash guage.

2500HeavyDuty 02-22-2009 05:05 PM

Yeah, check the oil and if it smells like diesel or if you have more oil than what u put in there the injectors are failing.

fuel in the oil will also lower the oil pressure real low

Ok gentelmen, i have three lights on my dash on, one is service engine soon, abs light, and the brake light is on whats all this about, the brake and abs light has been on for like 4 months.

HELP

uwyo_dmax 02-25-2009 01:45 PM

Is your parking break on? :tttt:

My brake and ABS lights come up sometimes when its real cold probably just something freezing. Not that that helps you much, one of your ABS sensors could be bad or loose or something.
You just need to go somewhere and get your codes read that'll help us help you :U:

Oh i took it to the stealer today. he did not give the code, but the reading said that it has a large fuel leak. So they told me the injector pump was bad:w2: $1500.00 to replace, and that it need new injectors, he said, Oh By the way there FREE:c:, there still under the 200,000 wr. So what do you think? Should i tell them to kiss my:moon: or just have them put the injectors on and go somewhere else?

K50 03-06-2009 02:44 PM

Dude, if they're offering free injectors, they wouldn't lie about that. GM/dealerships don't like doing free service, so if they're offering it, chances are that's what it is. Take them up on that, get them all replaced!!! :U:
Then after that, see about the injector pump.

if he says theyre free get them injectors for free. sometimes the injectors can make other things look bad

Rttoys 03-08-2009 07:26 PM

Ya, play their game, BUT tell them to do the injectors first and see if that fixes it.

WAG181 03-10-2009 09:58 PM

I had the same prob and it was my injectors. GM replaced all free of charge. Anyone know where to get the definitions of trouble codes? I am getting P0089 when I pull the DTC's. Help please.

will8 03-10-2009 10:17 PM

I have an 03 duramax with 368000 on the o.d. gone through 4 sets of injectors and that is it. was a hot shot rig up tilll 25000 miles ago. found out that the main reason for the injectors going out was because of the fuel filter. dealerships use a dual element filter where everything else is a single element. went back to the factory filters and have not had a problem since.:ok1:
