Gognito upper control arm drop stop spacing

I upgraded to cognito upper control arms and shocks my t bars were already cranked up after the install the truck sits higher and I'm worried about hitting the drop stop now and one of the bolts on the torsion bars is snapped off so any idea how to fix that if I need to readjust? Truck sit level now like 41 1/4 rear 40 1/2 front

looks like you have some cutting to do. take a look at limit straps

that's got to be hard on the ball joints being cranked that much. how's the CV joint angle?

They are kinda steep but I've seen worst I'm hoping to order limit straps Friday and maybe try to repair the broken bolt and let it down half inch :argh: then I'll have to trim for the tires :ouch:

if i remember right i have similar ride height as you on my 04 and i dont have that little room on the upper control arm stops. something is funny here. what size tires do you have. that may be why our ride height is similar????

I just checked mine and sure enough mine looks just like yours. I have 33's also but dont recall ever having any issues

your truck is cranked up to? im kinda worried about the CVs so i might save up for a 4.5" BDS lift and leave it turned down

2004LB7 06-12-2015 12:59 PM

yes, but.... my 04 black truck that i was comparing to yours is 2wd. my 08 that is 4wd is only mildly cranked. I too am looking at getting a lift that will allow me to lower the torsion bars and level out the CV joints and still leave me with about a 4" lift. i am thinking a 6" should do this. not sure what brand i will go with but i am set on a non torsion bar drop. i want to keep everything tucked up inside

Walker.B 06-16-2015 08:00 PM

would a 4.5" do it or do you think a 6" is needed? i dont want to be so high my new 33"s look to small

from my understanding and everything i have read it seams that if you install a true 6" lift and drop the torsion bars down by backing out the adjusting bolts till the CV joints are level it will sit like a 4" lift. you would use the blocks from a 4" lift on the back too.

it does seem that not all lifts will work like this as some don't drop the front diff low enough for a true 6". many will use their 4" lift and with the keys cranked up call it a 6" lift and sell it this way. the CV angles on a kit like this, at 4" look like they do when stock, ie still a slight angle.

the trick is finding which kits are the ones that will work. from my research it appears that it is the higher end / more expensive kits that will drop it right.

i'm just not ready yet to pull the trigger on a $2k lift kit and then have to figure out getting tires too so i can put then on right after the lift kit install. i guess when i settle on a kit maybe it will have to sit in the garage on a shelf for another year while i save of for some new bigger tires.

right i know what you mean i just dropped $1,890 on my tires for 33s
