How to fix rough ride?

So I have a 03 duramax. It has 150,000 miles, and it rides really rough. I want to know how to fix it? I'm guessing for one I probably need new shocks since I'm pretty sure the originals are still on the truck. I also was thinking of putting a leveling kit on it because the truck is pretty level now but the torsion bars are cranked so I'm guessing that's why it rides a little rough as well. So what should I do? What are some good leveling kits that will soften up the ride? Or should I go with a 4" lift? Any advice is appreciated.

not sure on a leveling kit or lift but cranking up the torsion bars will definitely make it ride rough.

Also, double check that the shocks are not bottoming (or more correctly topping) out. jack up the front of the truck keeping the suspension free to move and see if the A-arm hits the bump stop or if it stops short being held up by the shocks. the OEM shocks do not have enough travel in them to accommodate much cranking of the torsion bars. if the A- arms are not resting on the bump stops then the ride can be quite rough and you will risk damaging the shocks. putting longer shocks on it can make quite a diferance

I would say your issue is that your torsion bars are cranked up. A leveling kit won't help because it is just a different key that allows you to crank the torsion bars even more. Another drawback to having them cranked up is your balljoints will wear out alot faster because of the angle they are at now. I am guessing you have them cranked up to fit a bigger tire? I think the only real fix is to get a lift so you can relax the torsion bars and still fit the tires.

i have had mine cranked up all the way for roughly 50K miles and no issues so far
