newbie needs help lol

why does my 03 3/4 ton duramax hd have two intakes ? ones cold air and ones in a factory box im new here and would like some knowledge

the guy you bought it from was probably to lazy to take the stock one out or he thought he would get twice as clean air? ikd haha
